Week 2: Bellingen to the Gold Coast

After a massive week 1, always on the move, lots of travel and seeing friends, the mission for week 2 was relaxation. But before we get to that, a quick stopover at the Big Banana…

…before arriving at Yamba for our first bit of RnR.

Next stop was the always beautiful Byron Bay. We arrived with the intention of just staying for lunch and then moving on…but ended up staying for three days.

On the way out of Byron, a must visit is The Farm, where the food is fantastic, the kids love checking out the animals and Katie took the opportunity to show that just ’cause you’re on the road doesn’t mean you cant be glamorous!

Could have stayed in Byron for month however with winter only days away we piled back into the car to get ourselves further North…which bought us to the non-stop excitement of the Gold Coast.

Somewhere in amongst the action, Daniel managed to become a dedicated surfer AND finish his entire years’ maths textbook…all of which resulted in a pretty serious appetite

And just to top off a massive week, as we passed through town on our last night in the Gold Coast, we happened on an International Fireworks competition, where we got to sit on the beach with a front row seat to a spectacular show accompanied by great music – such a special moment and finale to the week which caused us all to reflect how lucky we were.

Phew…what a week. Not quite all the relaxation we had in mind but stay tuned for next week and we’ll have another go at chilling out on the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Island.

And a small footnote: The V8 Landcruiser and 28’ off-road van looking good in a parallel park amongst the glitz and glam of Surfers Paradise.
